Leading Our Montana with both a keen mind and a warm heart, Robbie Carpenter served as President and Executive Director from 2014 to 2024, with a brief hiatus during which she remained an active Board member. Her unique blend of enthusiasm and expertise set the tone for the organization, fostering an environment where creativity and ambition thrived. Robbie’s leadership style was characterized by her ability to see potential in every challenge and her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact.

Robbie had an eclectic career path with more than 30 years of experience working with nonprofits, fundraising, special events, and large projects. She loved big challenges and was motivated to help people and organizations reach beyond usual expectations and achieve what most thought impossible.

Weekends for Robbie often involved cleaning up after remodeling messes (something she did for 17 years), reading, writing, and painting. She cherished spending time with her children—one in person and one on Skype in Barcelona—and took pride in knowing that kindness was a core value for them both.

If granted a superpower, Robbie once said she would choose to time travel to witness significant historical events like the Civil War, the Renaissance, and the American taming of the West. She dreamed of speaking directly with Native American Chiefs, Leonardo da Vinci, Mark Twain, and Plato to understand their thoughts and feelings when they wrote, painted, or lived their extraordinary lives.
